How to protect your kid on FaceBook

I think it doesn’t need to explain that what FaceBook is and how it works? So, I would like to start this post like this.

FaceBook is a social networking website rich with more than 800 million active users. Sorry, more than 799,999,996 users???? The reason is I have own 5 FaceBook accounts.

Why should protect kids on FaceBook? Can you agree with my own answer?

Evils are living every ware, and social networks like FaceBook are hubs which allow them to find pabulums. (True, FaceBook team uses their best effort to protect users form bad guys)

Ok, how it goes with kids?

A little kid can be an easy victim of violator under so many direct and indirect ways such as stealing personal information, sex violation, abuse, porn…….. The most critical part is a person’s social life and personally depends on the experiences he is gotten in his growing age. That is the time he/she is learning that what’s good and what’s bad. No matter with white side, but when it considers along black side, which can be bad impact for his future life and personality.

As an example, sex violators widely use social networks to fulfill their sexual desires. How dangerous it is if your 10 years old boy had gotten a friendship with a homosexual guy.

What do you do if you’ll find your kid with FaceBook account? (According to ConsumersReports.org on May 2011, there are 7.5 million children under 13 with accounts, violating the site's terms of service)

Cutting sources are too efficient than rules or punishments. You must aware him that what he’s doing.

The minimum age limit for legal FaceBook account is 13 years. But, the ridiculous fact is anybody who has internet connection, computer, email address can create a FaceBook account. So, If your kid (who’s below age 13), already have a FaceBook account, that’s an illegal and fake account.

Tip#1
Ask him/her that “why do you need a FaceBook accounts?”

Sometimes, the reason may be innocent such as sharing of educational materials. Under these kinds of objectives, you have to think twice before getting actions against his account.

Tip#2
Tell him that “don’t do illegal things” and aware him that why it has an age limit?

Sure, he’ll reply you that “My friends also have FaceBook accounts” ask him as “if your friend will steal $10.00 by other friend's pocket, do you also do that?”

Anyway, if your kid will strongly say that “I really need this account”, and if you also will fell it as innocent requirement, teach him about do's and don'ts of FaceBook, make him aware of the risks, get his logging info and check the account randomly.
